Fresh Thyme Farmers Market Signs Lease For 1st Cincinnati Store

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, a new specialty grocer that has been scouting the Cincinnati market for locations, signed a lease for its first store.

Fresh Thyme signed a 10-year lease for the former Circuit City building at 3321 Alamo Ave. in Oakley, a nearly 30,000-square-foot store.
The company will hire 80 to 100 new employees for the location.
John Thompson, senior vice president and partner with Everest Group, represented the landlord in the deal, along with Everest’s Chris Nachtrab. The lease is valued at more than $5.5 million, according to Everest. Thompson said the store is expected to open this summer, since the building doesn’t need much work done to the interior or exterior.
I wrote about the new Phoenix-based specialty grocer scouting the market for locations last June. Fresh Thyme said then it plans to open up to six stores in the Greater Cincinnati market.
The store will cater to “educated consumers,” those who are conscious of what they are eating. Each store, which will be about 25,000 square feet, will have a large produce section in the center of the store, fresh seafood, a natural meat department that makes fresh sausage, in-house bakery, a deli, a large bulk food section, natural vitamins and supplements, plus beer and wine.
The concept will be competing with other natural food-oriented retailers such as EarthFareWhole Foods andFresh Market.
